How to reset / restart iPhone or iPod Touch

With the new array of web apps for the iPhone and iPod touch, chances are one of them will cause your device to become unresponsive. I had this unfortunate problem with LastFM, a fantastic application, but its got more bugs than Amy Whinehouse's hair.

So, to restart your device, simply hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home button simultaniously for 10 seconds.

Your device should then spring back to life!

If you are still experiencing problems, you can restore your device.

Will Wilson's Gravatar ...and if your iPod/iPhone still keeps freezing on the loading page, then you're in the same boat as me. DAMMIT!!

I'd suggest don't download lastFM and install an app simultaneously, you'll probably render your device useless like mine :@

dickbob's Gravatar I had a prob with AirMe. After I installed it my Camera app would just show the iris and then drop back to Home.

I tried all the reset and restore options but the only solution was restore the iPhone as factory fresh so I lost all my network and mail settings :-(

All is well now including putting AirMe back on.

Will Wilson's Gravatar Thats a shame. Did you not have a backup of your settings? iTunes restored mine to its most recent settings so I managed to avoid all that hassle

dickbob's Gravatar Yeah, I tried the restore option first which of course restored my settings but the prob didn't go away. So I tried the factory fresh restore and that work. I wasn't too worried as it was the my first day with my iPhone 3G so I was in experiment and learn mode :-)

dickbob's Gravatar Yes, I'm pleased too :-))

It took me from 8:30 until 1pm to get my order registered on the O2 website. What a shambles! Anyway the iPhone arrived at 2.30 on the 11th.

Still playing...
